Lexi Streak Privacy Policy

Lexi Streak ("the app") is a free word-guessing puzzle game for Android, published by Rutik Rathod, an independent developer based in India ("I", "me", "my"). This policy explains what data the app handles, why, who else receives it, and the choices and rights you have.

The short version

  • There is no account, login, or sign-up. I never ask for your name, email, phone number, contacts, photos, microphone, camera, or location.
  • Your game progress stays on your device.
  • The app shows ads (Google AdMob) and uses Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics (Google). Analytics records how you use the app (which buttons you tap, which screens you open and for how long, how your puzzles go), without your name, email, or anything you type. These services also collect technical and device data, described below.
  • If you send a suggestion from inside the app, the text you type is stored on Google Firebase servers in the United States.
  • Where the law requires it (EEA, UK, Switzerland), the app asks for your consent before showing personalised ads or collecting analytics, and no analytics are collected until you accept. You can change your choice any time in Settings → Privacy Options.

1Data stored only on your device

The app keeps the following in its private storage on your phone. It is not sent to me or to any server by the app:

  • Games played and won, current and best daily streak, guess-count distribution
  • Your daily-puzzle history (date and win/loss, up to 365 days) and today's puzzle state
  • Words you have already been dealt (so practice words don't repeat)
  • Achievement counters and your settings (dark mode, sound, haptics, hard mode, reminder on/off)
  • The streak shown on the optional home-screen widget

Uninstalling the app deletes this data. Android Auto Backup: depending on your device settings, Android may copy this app data to your own Google account backup so it can be restored on a new phone. That backup is controlled by you in your device and Google account settings, not by me.

2Daily reminder notifications (optional)

If you turn on the daily reminder, the app asks for Android's notification permission and schedules a local notification on your device. No data is sent anywhere for this, and you can turn it off in Settings or in your device's notification settings.

3Suggestions you send

The "Send Suggestion" form sends the message you type and a timestamp to Cloud Firestore (Google Cloud / Firebase), where I read it to improve the game. The app attaches no name, email, account, or device identifier to it, so suggestions are effectively anonymous — please do not type personal information into the message.

  • Where: Google's US multi-region Firestore location (nam5).
  • Why / legal basis: you choose to send it; I use it to improve the game (your consent, and my legitimate interest in improving the app).
  • How long: I review suggestions and delete the ones I no longer need at least once every 12 months.
  • Deleting one: email me the text of your message and I will delete it.

4Advertising — Google AdMob

The app shows banner, interstitial, and rewarded video ads (a rewarded ad reveals a hint) through Google AdMob. To serve and measure ads, Google may collect your Android Advertising ID, IP address, device and app information (model, OS version, language), and ad interaction data, and may derive an approximate location from your IP address. Google processes this under its own privacy policy:

Ad events (an ad being shown, viewed, clicked, closed, or failing to load, and which part of the app it appeared in) are also recorded in Firebase Analytics, described in section 5.

Your choices

  • EEA, UK, Switzerland: on first launch you are shown Google's consent form (via Google's User Messaging Platform) and can accept, decline, or manage your choices. Change it any time in Settings → Privacy Options.
  • US states with privacy laws (for example California): I do not sell your personal information for money. Advertising identifiers shared with Google for advertising can count as "sharing" or "targeted advertising" under some state laws; you can opt out through the Privacy Options form where shown, or by resetting or deleting your advertising ID in Android Settings → Privacy → Ads (and choosing to opt out of ads personalisation).
  • Everywhere: you can reset or delete your advertising ID in Android settings at any time.

5Analytics — Firebase Analytics

The app uses Firebase Analytics (Google) to understand in detail how it is used, so I can fix problems and improve it. All of it is anonymous behaviour data; it never includes your name, email, or anything you type into a text box (such as a suggestion). Guesses are not sent as words, but each key you press on the game keyboard is recorded as an individual event (see "Keyboard use" below), so in principle the letters you pressed could be pieced together. It covers:

  • Taps and navigation: which buttons, rows and icons you tap, which screens you open, and how long you spend on each (total time and time with the app in the foreground).
  • Keyboard use: which on-screen key you press (a letter, delete, or enter) and how many boxes of the current row were filled.
  • Gameplay: when a puzzle starts or is resumed, its mode (daily, practice, marathon), word length and theme, each accepted guess (its number, how many letters were right, present or absent, and the time since the puzzle started), guesses that were refused and why (too short, not a word, hard-mode rule), hints requested and used, puzzle wins and losses (with guesses used, time taken and your streak at that moment), puzzles left unfinished, Marathon results, and achievements unlocked.
  • App use: opening the app, moving it to the background and back (with how long the session lasted), changes you make in Settings (dark mode, sound, haptics, hard mode, reminder), whether you granted notification permission, sharing your result, opening or sending feedback (only the length of the message, never its text), and when the review prompt is shown.
  • Ads: an ad being shown, viewed, clicked, closed, or failing, and the part of the app it appeared in.
  • Summary labels attached to the app instance: banded counts of your streak and puzzles won (such as "7-13") and whether dark mode, hard mode, reminder, sound and haptics are on.
  • Standard automatic data from Firebase: first open and sessions, app version, device model, OS version, language, approximate location (country/city from IP), and an app-instance identifier. Firebase may also use your advertising ID for this.

None of it identifies you to me. Firebase privacy information. Google keeps this analytics data for a limited period set in my Firebase settings (at most 14 months).

Consent and your choices: where the law requires consent (EEA/UK/Switzerland) the app collects no analytics until you accept in Google's consent form, and if you later withdraw consent in Settings → Privacy Options, collection stops. Elsewhere, analytics is on; you can reset or delete your advertising ID in Android settings, and you can ask me to delete anything I can link to you (see section 10). Legal basis: your consent where the law requires it, otherwise my legitimate interest in understanding how the app is used.

6Crash reports — Firebase Crashlytics

If the app crashes, Firebase Crashlytics (Google) receives a crash report: the error and stack trace, device model, OS version, app version, and a Firebase installation identifier. I use it only to find and fix bugs. Crashlytics keeps crash data for up to 90 days. Legal basis: my legitimate interest in keeping the app stable and secure.

7Other services

  • Google Play In-App Review: if the app asks you to rate it, the Google Play review dialog is run by Google Play; I do not receive data from it beyond the public review you choose to post.
  • Sharing your result: when you tap Share, the text goes to the app you choose through Android's share sheet; the app does not send it anywhere itself.

8Who receives data, and transfers abroad

The only recipients of data from the app are Google (AdMob, Firebase Analytics, Firebase Crashlytics, Cloud Firestore) and, for the text of suggestions, me as their reader. I do not sell data and I do not share it with anyone else. Google processes data in the United States and other countries; for transfers out of the EEA/UK/Switzerland, Google relies on mechanisms such as the EU–US Data Privacy Framework and Standard Contractual Clauses.

9Children

Lexi Streak is a general-audience game and is not directed at children under 13 (or under 16 where your country sets a higher age). I do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has sent personal information in a suggestion, email me and I will delete it.

10Your rights

Because the app holds no account and I cannot identify you from the data I receive, most data about you is held by Google, not me. Still, depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR/UK GDPR, India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023, or California's CCPA/CPRA) you may have the right to: access your data, have it corrected or erased, restrict or object to its use, withdraw consent at any time, data portability, and to make a complaint to a data protection authority (in India, the Data Protection Board; in the EU/UK, your local supervisory authority). You can also nominate someone to exercise these rights for you, and you will not be treated differently for exercising them.

  • For data Google holds (ads, analytics, crash reports): use Google's privacy controls and Android's advertising-ID settings.
  • For a suggestion you sent: email me its text and I will delete it.
  • For anything else, or if you are unsure who holds what: email rathodrutik05@gmail.com. I will reply within 30 days.

I do not make decisions about you by automated means that have legal or similarly significant effects.

11Security

Data sent by the app travels over encrypted (HTTPS/TLS) connections. The suggestions database accepts new messages only and cannot be read, changed, or deleted through the app.

12Changes to this policy

If the app's data practices change (for example a new SDK), I will update this page and the "Last updated" date above, and ask for your consent again where the law requires it.
